“Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.” -Jimi Hendrix
When I think of wisdom, I think of my grandmother.
Old folks are wise. They go hand in hand. These are people who have been through more experiences than us young’ins. Not only have they experienced these things, but they have learned from it and had time to reflect.
More importantly, they are able to listen. Old, wise people listen to you with both ears. Something most young people, including myself, struggle with.
My goal for the rest of this week: listen. This should really be a life goal… but I’m gonna work on it at least for this week! 😉
To gain wisdom,
you must have experience.
To get experience,
you must have failure. To have failure,
you’ve had sadness,
To have sadness,
you must have had happiness. To have happiness,
you must have good memories,
To have good memories,
you must have experiences. But experiences alone,
do not lead to wisdom. For wisdom,
is experiencing these things,
recognizing where you have been
remembering how you felt,
and listening to others,
before telling them what to do.
What do you think is most important when it comes to wisdom? Who in your life do you regard as, “wise?”
